Today, Principal Secretary for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, hosted Ms. Anna Wellenstein, World Bank Regional Practice Director for Planet, and her delegation at Kilimo House during a courtesy visit. The engagement aimed to strengthen ongoing policy dialogue between the World Bank and the Government of Kenya on agricultural transformation.

Discussions focused on the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project and explored collaborative strategies to enhance productivity, resilience, and inclusive growth in the sector. The delegation also introduced the World Bank’s global initiative, AgriConnect, which seeks to generate more and better jobs, raise incomes for smallholder farmers, and bolster global food security by 2030.

Dr. Ronoh welcomed Kenya’s potential participation in Mission AgriConnect, recognizing its alignment with national priorities on job creation and food and nutrition security. The initiative will be implemented through the AgriConnect Compact, a government-led, time-bound development plan jointly agreed with the World Bank Group and development partners, and informed by private sector input.

The meeting underscored Kenya’s commitment to transformative agricultural reforms and its readiness to engage in global partnerships that drive sustainable development.
