Today, CS Mithika Linturi launched phase two of the Kenya Integrated Agriculture Management Information System (KIAMIS) that will be crucial in the implementation of the Agriculture Transformation and Growth Strategy (ASTGS), 2019 – 2029.
KIAMIS is a digital platform with various components that facilitate farmer registration and establish a national central farmers’ database.
Recently, the government launched a rapid national farmers’ registration through the National Government Administration (Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs and village elders). This effort has led to registration of 4.2 million farmers.
In a press briefing, the CS announced that the Swedish Government has offered Kenya a grant of Sh650 million to implement KIAMIS Phase II, with main focus being registration of all farmers and establishment of a complete, central farmers’ database which will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The launch was attended by the Swedish Ambassador to Kenya H.E Caroline Vicini, PS State Department of Crop Development Kello Harsama, FAO Kenya Representative Carla Mucavi, Assistant FAO Kenya Representative-Programmes Hamisi Williams and other Senior government officials.
