Hon. Jonathan Mueke is the Principal Secretary, State Department for Livestock Development where he oversees 7 State Corporations and provides leadership in the development of the Livestock Industry, Livestock Policy Management, Veterinary Services and Disease Control, Livestock Marketing, Livestock Training and Research, and Animal Genetic Development. He has also served as a Principal Secretary in the State Department for Sports.
Hon. Mueke has over 25 years of leadership experience in both the private and public sectors and served as the first Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County between 2013 and 2017. Has 20+ years of senior management experience in the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) sector across various businesses in Kenya and the United States of America as well as 13+ years of experience in the real estate sector.
Education
Jonathan holds a Masters in Business Administration with a double concentration in Global Information Technology and Entrepreneurship from Oakland University (Michigan, USA) and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration from the Wayne State University (Michigan, USA).
Community Service
Jonathan is a true believer in giving back to the community and enjoys mentoring young people. He is a leadership mentor to participants in the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, a flagship program of the United States Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). He also champions the Ficha Uchi initiative which has brought dignity to over 10,000 young children from poverty-stricken families by providing them with free school uniform resulting in higher self-esteems and better exam results.
