Mission
To provide and facilitate efficient veterinary services for the promotion and protection of animal and public health, the production of safe and high-quality animals and animal products, and promotion of trade and industrial growth in a sustainable environment.

Mandate
Safeguard animal, human, and environmental health; promote animal welfare; increase animal resource productivity; and ensure safe, high-quality animals and animal products to facilitate food security and support domestic and international trade.

Divisions

The Directorate of Veterinary Services has its headquarters at Veterinary Laboratories, Kabete Campus. It has four (4) divisions:

• Disease Surveillance, Vector Regulatory and Zoological Services division
• Diagnostics and Efficacy Trial Centers division
• Veterinary Public Health and Animal Products division
• Veterinary Governance and Management Support Services division

• Seven efficacy trial centers, namely Kabete, Maseno, Machakos, Limuru, Ngong, Kiboko and AHITI Ndomba.
