Today, Principal Secretary, State Department for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, presided over the 28th Graduation Ceremony of Bukura Agricultural College in Kakamega County—an inspiring celebration of excellence, ambition, and the future of Kenya’s agricultural transformation.
A total of 980 graduates were conferred with Diplomas and Certificates in Agripreneurship and Agricultural Extension, marking their transition into national service as key players in strengthening food and nutrition security.
Dr. Ronoh congratulated the graduates for their perseverance and commitment, commending Bukura’s practical, hands-on training model that continues to shape competent, globally competitive professionals. He emphasized the Ministry’s strategic milestones—including the digital registration of over 6.8 million farmers through KIAMIS, a two-thirds reduction in fertilizer costs, and a 30% rise in maize production—demonstrating progress in food sovereignty and productivity.
He also highlighted youth-centered initiatives like ENABLE and 4-K Clubs, robust investments in post-harvest systems, and expanded support for tea and sugar value chains. These, he noted, are part of a comprehensive effort to create a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient agricultural sector.
In his closing message, Dr. Ronoh encouraged the graduates to lead with purpose, uphold the values of service and innovation, and rise as champions of a thriving agricultural future.
