Agriculture and Livestock Development CS Hon Mithika Linturi leads the Kenya Vision 2030 4th Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) dissemination Baraza in Isiolo and Meru Counties.

As part of the all government effort to engage with the public and disseminate the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) for 2023-27, CS Mithika Linturi alongside the Principal Secretary for Petroleum Mohammed Liban and the Isiolo Deputy Governor, Dr. James Lowasa, have took this initiative to Isiolo earlier in the day.

The CS highlighted that successful implementation of MTP IV necessitates the support and buy-in from all stakeholders nationwide. To ensure robust citizen participation, it is crucial to raise awareness about the government’s initiatives, its commitments for the medium term, and the positive impact these will have on the quality of life for Kenyans.

Under the Fourth Medium Term Plan, the government aims to boost production through a value chain approach, focusing on sectors such as leather and leather products, textiles and apparel, dairy, tea, rice, edible oils, the blue economy, minerals, forestry, and construction and building materials, among others.

Key priorities will include promoting agro-processing, strengthening extension services, providing quality and affordable farm inputs, fostering cooperative development and management, enhancing market access and logistical support, expanding irrigation infrastructure, adopting climate-smart agriculture practices, increasing agricultural financing, and advancing agricultural mechanization research and development.

In the afternoon, the CS engaged the residents of Meru, the county leadership, and national government stakeholders during the launch of the dissemination of the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) for 2023-27 in Meru County.

The public had the opportunity to learn about the MTP IV program and provide feedback. He highlighted opportunities within the ministry, including efforts to lower animal feed costs, the rollout of the sexed semen program, improving the cost of hides and skin and funding opportunities under the DRIVE and KelCoP among other ministry projects.

The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration to achieve the plan’s goals and enhance local economic growth.

He was accompanied by the PS Forestry, Gitonga Mugambi EBS, County Secretary Kiambi Atheru, PhD, Meru County Commissioner, and other government officials.
