This morning, Principal Secretary for Agriculture Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, together with his colleagues Dr. Chris Kiptoo (National Treasury) and Eng. John Tanui (ICT), presided over a landmark forum at the Agricultural Training Centre in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County. The event empowered farmers and marked the official launch of Baringo as Kenya’s 23rd tea‑growing county, with the Tea Board of Kenya (TBK) and Nyayo Tea Zone Development Corporation mandated to actualize this vision.
The 450‑acre ATC land has now been designated for full utilization by the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), focusing on seed propagation, dairy farming, and innovative agricultural ventures. This strategic move is expected to strengthen food security, modernize farming practices, and uplift rural livelihoods.
The forum brought together key leaders including Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Hon. Musa Sirma, Gideon Kimaiyo ‘Sonko’, and KALRO Director General Patrick Ketiem. Their collective presence underscored the importance of synergy between government, research institutions, and local leadership in driving sustainable agricultural transformation.
