The dairy sector is a crucial pillar in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, with the government actively striving to boost dairy productivity to our targeted 12 billion liters annually.
This morning, CS Mithika Linturi flanked by PS Jonathan Mueke, Kenya Dairy Board and the Kenya Revenue Authority officials conducted an inspection at the KRA ICD warehouse, scrutinizing a consignment of illegally imported milk powder valued at Kshs. 150 million, stored in the facility.
The CS noted that Criminals within the Agriculture sector are attempting to undermine the government’s plan by importing illicit products which not only lead to loss in taxes but also pose health risks to Kenyans.
Consequently, the government is intensifying enforcement measures to curb this importation.
The Ministry is dedicated to improving the dairy value chain by reducing production costs, providing robust local and international markets for Kenya‘s dairy products, and enhancing the livelihoods of the livestock farmers.
