The tea subsector is one of the economic pillars in agriculture which is a source of livelihoods to many people and that’s why as a government we are focusing on strengthening this value chain through stakeholder engagement.

Later Principal secretary state department for Agriculture Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul visited Githongo Tea Factory in Meru county during a routine inspection, farmers engagement forum and assessment of food security situations in the region.

During the engagement exercise, PS launched the distribution of assorted seedlings in readiness for planting during the November -January rain season. Such initiatives promote active citizen involvement in government programs and foster sustainable growth in the Country. The government is keen on the successful implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) which is people-centered to bridge the socio-economic gap through even distribution of resources and create an enabling environment for all Kenyans.

He was flanked by Area MP Hon. Dr Shadrack Mwiti, Hon. Dr Shadrack Mwiti (Imenti central), Hon. Joseph M’eruaki, KEPHIS Chairperson among other leaders.
