In a bid to position Agriculture as a business enterprise that can potentially attract youths and agripreneurs,today Principal secretary state Department For Agriculture Dr. kipronoh Ronoh Paul joined Cs Dr. Andrew Karanja together with the Transforming Ecosystems for Jobs in Agriculture through Technology and Innovation (TEJATI) Multisectoral team during breakfast brief meeting at Serena, Nairobi.
TEJATI program is a technology and innovation-driven agriculture initiative envisioned for the transformation of the agricultural sector in Kenya in line with the PLAN.
It has been designed to support the government in its drive to create more jobs for the youthful population and attract them into agriculture; improve food productivity, ensure an eco-friendly agricultural practice, enhance and create value across the agriculture value chain through new business models and services while taking the people out of poverty and enabling economic growth and diversification.
Among key priority crops Rice, Tea, Cotton, and Edible oil, along with Food Security crops like Maize, Beans, and Potatoes, will foster job opportunities through production, value addition, packaging, entrepreneurship, and exports.
TEJATI is not just an initiative; it is a bold, visionary program that will revolutionize Kenya’s agricultural sector and create a sustainable future for our youth, our communities, and our nation. By embracing technology and innovation, and through collaborative partnerships, we will unlock immense potential for job creation, food security, and long-term economic growth.
On his remarkable speech, PS urged all stakeholders ministries, development partners, the private sector, and local communities to remain committed and engaged. Together, we will ensure the success of TEJATI and create a thriving agricultural ecosystem that leaves no one behind.
