Manufacturing and industrialisation pillar of the Kenya Kwanza Plan seeks to add value to our produce to fetch more for the farmers in export.
This requires establishment of the requisite infrastructure to support food production value-chains close to farmers.
The Government continues to establish and operationalize SEZs and EPZs with construction of four such zones in Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Eldoret and Busia currently at 50% ahead of completion on June 30, 2025.
In order to facilitate the establishment of the SEZs/EPZs, Government is ensuring the provision of access roads, water, electricity and ICT facilities as well as the identification of lead investors to ensure operationalization immediately after construction.
It’s in this continued endeavour that today the Principal secretary state department for Agriculture Dr kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS joined Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki during a review meeting on the status of ongoing construction of SEZs/EPZs at his official residence, Karen, Nairobi county.
The review meeting was held to unlock bottlenecks on the new Dongo Kundu (Mombasa), Samburu (Kwale), Naivasha and Njoro (Nakuru) SEZs/EPZs whose establishment is in the formative stages.
Principal Secretaries and heads of relevant agencies were present.
