Government Reaffirms Commitment to Boosting Tea Sector Through Value Addition and Quality Production

We are investing in the tea sector and will continue working closely with farmers and other stakeholders to explore value addition for them to reap maximum benefits from their produce.
Today Principal secretary state department for Agriculture Dr Kipronoh Ronoh Paul visited Michimikuru Tea Factory, Tigania East Constituency in Meru County for a routine inspection and farmers engagement accompanied by the Area MP Hon. Mpuru Aburi, Hon.Kirima Moses Nguchine, Central Imenti MP and KEPHIS Chairman Hon.Joseph M’eruaki among other senior government officials.
This is part of the benchmarking mission as we hinge towards achieving higher production, which will feed into the expanding global market under our strategic focus of economic diplomacy, revitalizing tea sub county and reforms implementation that are long overdue. ps urged all tea farmers to remain committed to maintaining high standards and producing quality tea,as this will ultimately lead to increased returns.
The government is keen to ensure farmers get value for their hard work.
