Dr. Andrew Karanja, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, flanked by Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh, Principal Secretary for Agriculture, hosted an IGAD delegation led by H.E. Mohamed Ware, Deputy Executive Secretary, at Kilimo House. The delegation included representatives from Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda and South Sudan.
Discussions focused on collaboration among Member States to strengthen resilience against food and nutrition insecurity, addressing challenges like drought and climate variability in the Horn of Africa. They reviewed outcomes from projects such as the Drought Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Programme (2013–2023) and the Program to Build Resilience for Food and Nutrition Security (2022–2027), which have supported farmers in arid and semi-arid regions, including seven counties: Baringo, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana, West Pokot, and Garissa.
