Today, Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary, Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, hosted a high-level delegation from the Rockefeller Foundation led by Executive Vice President Liz Yee, to explore strategic collaborations aimed at strengthening food security, driving economic growth, and improving rural livelihoods.

Discussions focused on enhancing market access for farmers, promoting climate-smart agricultural practices, and improving the availability of nutritious meals across the country.

CS Kagwe emphasized the urgent need to reform the curriculum in Kenya’s 10 agricultural training institutions to reflect emerging technologies and equip extension officers with modern skills. He also unveiled an innovative plan to deploy drones—through a partnership with Kenya Airways—to harvest critical soil data that will be relayed to farmers through mobile phones, empowering them with real-time agronomic advice.

The meeting also explored interventions to support the 10 million school meals target by Vision 2030, with a special focus on revitalizing 4K Clubs in primary and secondary schools to grow healthy, nutritious food.
