The Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary for the State Department for Agriculture launched the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System on 19th September 2025 by approving the first-ever Annual Procurement Plan (eGP) through the online platform.
This is a milestone in digitizing Kenya’s Public Procurement.
The web-based application is designed to cover the entire Procurement cycle which includes Tendering, Bidding, Evaluation, Awarding, and Contract Management.
The system enables Ministries, State Departments, and Public Agencies to publish tenders on an online platform where Suppliers/Contractors can submit bids and track their status in real time.
By digitizing all processes, the system increases Transparency and Accountability, reducing paperwork, minimizing errors, and ensuring audit trails for effective monitoring and evaluation.
It also interfaces with key institutions such as Banks, KRA, EACC, DCI, and others to provide control and real-time verification, thereby preventing forgery.
The platform benefits Suppliers/ Contractors in Kenya and beyond by providing greater access to opportunities and reducing manual bottlenecks.
For the Government, it brings cost savings, faster Service Delivery, and enhanced Accountability to the public therefore value for money.
The launch was made possible through the concerted efforts of the State Department for Agriculture’s Technical Staff, Procurement team, the National Treasury and System Developers, signaling a strong push toward the adoption of systems.
With the Agriculture sector taking the lead in its rollout, the e-GP System sets a new benchmark for proper utilization for money, transparency, and redeeming trust in Government Procurement processes.
The State Department for Agriculture is now eGp compliant
