This morning, Principal Secretary for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, inspected the Setet Hydro-Power Project along River Chemosit in Kericho County. The project has reached 60% completion and remains on track for commissioning before year-end. Once operational, it will deliver affordable and reliable energy to tea factories in Litein, Chelal, Momul, Toror, and Tegat—cutting processing costs, boosting efficiency, and enhancing the competitiveness of our tea sector.
This strategic investment is particularly pertinent as it supports sustainable energy adoption, reduces dependence on costly alternatives, and strengthens the agricultural value chain. By lowering production costs, the project will not only benefit tea farmers and processors but also contribute to rural industrialization and economic growth in Kericho and beyond.
