On the sidelines of the Nyanza international conference meeting at Kisumu city county,the Principal Secretary State Department For Agriculture Dr.Kipronoh Ronoh Paul CBS held a fruitful consultative meeting with West of Rift Smallholder Tea factories and Tea buyers.Their discussion centred on ways of enhancing tea prices in the auction,tea quality, market expansion and better farmer earnings.
This underscores our commitment to enacting substantial reforms in the tea sector aimed at boosting earnings for small-scale farmers.
The meeting with key stakeholders including KTDA , Tea Board of Kenya,, Independent Tea Producers’ Association, Kenya Tea Growers Association and EATA will mark a significant step in unlocking the immense potential of tea farmers and exponentially increase their gains.
The PS reaffirmed the government’s immense commitment in supporting tea production through providing subsidised fertiliser, establishment of common user facilities for value addition and exploring new markets.He also emphasized their steadfast support through reviewing of taxes and levies on tea to promote growth of value addition industries.
