Public Sector Hearing and Proposal for FY 2025/26 and Medium-Term Budget

The agriculture sector is a key pillar in Kenya’s economy and a priority under Vision 2030 and Government’s agenda.The principal secretary state Department for agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh paul chaired the public hearing for the 2025/26 Financial Year and Medium-Term Budget at KICC.

The Agriculture, Rural and Urban Development (ARUD) sector includes agriculture, livestock development, the National Land Commission (NLC), land planning, and the blue economy. He highlighted the sector’s contributions, including a 21.8% share of GDP, job creation, increased export earnings, and food security.

He emphasized the sector’s role in national development and fulfilling regional and international obligations related to agriculture, land management, and sustainable practices.

The hearing provided stakeholders an opportunity to review and give feedback on the sector’s budget proposals, ensuring alignment on key priorities for the coming year.

Other key attendees included Hon. Ndindi Nyoro (Chairman, Budget and Appropriation Committee), CEO NLC Madam Kabale Tache, and Director of Macro and Fiscal Affairs Mr. Musa Kathanje.
