Today,Principal Secretary, State Department for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS , joined other national leaders and development partners at the official signing ceremony for the Integrated Natural Resource Management Programme (INReMP) Financing Agreement. The high-level event was hosted by the National Treasury and presided over by Cabinet Secretary Hon. John Mbadi, marking a pivotal moment in Kenya’s journey toward sustainable development and agricultural transformation.

In his remarks, Dr. Ronoh reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to driving transformative agricultural reforms that respond directly to the needs of rural communities. He emphasized that the INReMP initiative is not only timely but also strategically aligned with Kenya’s Vision 2030, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Agricultural Sector Transformation and Growth Strategy (ASTGS 2019–2029).

Dr. Ronoh announced that the programme will initially be rolled out across ten counties: Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisumu, Homa Bay, and Migori. He noted that this targeted implementation aims to empower rural communities by strengthening their resilience through integrated natural resource management and sustainable economic opportunities.

> “This investment reflects our commitment to inclusive growth and responsible stewardship of our environment. We deeply appreciate the support of IFAD and other partners, and we pledge to ensure the programme’s timely and impactful implementation,” said Dr. Ronoh.

The INReMP programme will focus on critical areas such as land and water resource management, enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting agroforestry, and strengthening rural enterprises and agricultural value chains. These efforts are designed to position natural resource governance as a key driver of peace, social cohesion, and long-term economic prosperity.

CS Dr. Debora Mlongo Barasa (Environment, Climate Change and Forestry), Principal Secretaries Dr. Raymond Omollo (Interior) and Eng. Festus Ng’eno (Environment and Climate Change), and Ms. Mariatu Kamara, Country Director for IFAD, among other notable dignitaries and stakeholders were also present.
