Earlier today the Principal Secretary State Department For Agriculture Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul,CBS attended the Nyanza International Investment Conference at Kisumu city county dubbed “Nyanza Rising Towards Economic Transformation for Socioeconomic Growth and Development,” brought together regional leaders, government institutions, the private sector, and prospective investors to discuss the investment potential in the region as well as strategies for ensuring the viability and sustainability of these investments.
The Nyanza International Investment Forum (NIIF) is a strategic platform aimed at unlocking the economic potential of the Nyanza region by attracting investments across key sectors such as Agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure, blue economy, ICT, and tourism.
The PS on his presentation highlighted and emphasized the crucial connection between Agriculture and socio-economic advancement and highlighted the need to attract investment across various sectors in the region to increase its contribution to the national GDP from the current 10% and Agriculture from 21.9%.
The forum also brought together government officials, policymakers, investors, and business leaders to explore opportunities and partnerships that can spur sustainable development in Nyanza. It also serves as a showcase for the region’s investment, friendly policies, infrastructure projects, and emerging business opportunities.
The event aligns with the government’s broader agenda to decentralize economic growth and create job opportunities by leveraging the untapped potential of counties in Western Kenya.
