Transforming Africa’s Food Systems Through Innovation and Partnership

Principal Secretary for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, led Kenya’s delegation to a three‑day high‑level forum in Lusaka, Zambia, where Ministers and senior officials from Ghana, Malawi, Senegal, Tanzania, and Zambia convened to advance Africa’s food and nutrition security agenda. Anchored on the pillars of Productivity, Prosperity, Partnerships, and Policy, the discussions prioritized soil health, sustainable fertilizer use, and climate‑smart practices as the foundation of resilient food systems, stressing that productivity must be innovation‑driven, prosperity equitably shared, partnerships cross‑border and catalytic, and policy enabling and evidence‑based. A key outcome was AgriConnect initiative, a digital platform designed to link farmers to quality inputs, reliable markets, trade opportunities, and investment, thereby unlocking efficiencies and scaling inclusive agribusiness. Through regional collaboration and targeted reforms, the participating nations committed to transforming food systems, positioning agriculture as a driver of economic growth, deepening intra‑African trade, and strengthening resilience against climate shocks.
