Today, Agriculture PS Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, together with his colleague, Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, engaged the Board of Directors of Nyamache Tea Factory in Kisii County to deliberate on practical measures to revitalise the tea sector and improve farmers’ earnings.

The discussions focused on reducing the cost of tea production, rejuvenating ageing tea bushes, modernising factory equipment, promoting value addition, embracing digitalisation, and strengthening direct tea marketing to enhance efficiency, competitiveness and returns across the tea value chain.

These interventions are aligned with the Government’s ongoing tea-sector reforms, including direct tea marketing and access to affordable fertiliser, which are aimed at lowering production costs, boosting productivity and putting more value in the hands of farmers.

The Government remains firmly committed to working with tea farmers, factory management and other stakeholders to build a productive, competitive and sustainable tea industry that delivers better incomes, stronger livelihoods and lasting prosperity for farming communities.
