Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Hon. Peter Munya, has affirmed government’s committment in lowering the cost of living for the vulnerable households through Maize Flour Subsidy Programme.
The Programme, which was announced by H.E the President on 20th July 2022, aims at lowering the cost of a 2kg packet of maize flour from Ksh. 205 to Ksh100 accross the country.
The has CS said that 70 millers have shown interest and signed contracts for the Programme.
Further, he has thanked the Cereal Millers and retail traders for the partnership and keen interest to ensure that food reaches all corners of the country.
He has urged the agencies involved in this initiative to avoid any mischief, fraud and misappropriations, adding that severe legal action shall be taken.
To ensure seamless implementation of the Programme, a command centre has been established 0800724891 to be manned from 8.00 am to 5.00pm daily.
