Agriculture CS Hon Peter Munya today commissioned Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation Gatitu Tea Factory. He was flanked by the PS Crops Development and Agricultural Research Dr. Francis Owino.
The factory is one of the major Vision 2030 and Big-4 agenda projects delivered during the Jubilee Administration.
The CS noted that the corporation has played a critical role towards the achievement of the the ongoing Tea Reforms including the construction of factories which continues to support manufacturing in the agro business sector, and food security.
Further, he reiterated that his Ministry will continue to support Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation and ensure that its hybrid conservation model is consolidated and the tea value chain ventures completed.
One of the main mandates of the Cooperation is to enhance the conservation of forests and protection of the environment. It also has the responsibility of providing alternative livelihoods support to the communities living adjacent to the forests.
