Today, CS Mithika linturi officially opened the training of trainers (TOT) for registration of farmer beneficiaries for the government subsidy fertilizer programme at Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete.
Once trained, the ToTs will be expected to train the Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs in all the counties for timely registration of farmers to facilitate uptake of the subsidized fertilizers from the various distribution points before the onset of the 2023 long rains season.
Previously, the government fertilizer subsidy programmes have witnessed malpractices that included infiltration by non-beneficiaries and unscrupulous traders who accessed and resold the subsidized fertilizers at higher prices.
The distribution of subsidized fertilizer will be issued to registered farmers under digitized farmer register and accessed through e-wallet as directed by H.E President William Ruto.
