The PS SDL, Mr Harry Kimtai, today at Crowne Plaza Hotel, officiated a meeting of a team of representatives from the World Bank Office, treasury and various organizations to kick_start the World Bank appraisal mission for the new DRIVE project and confirm the country’s readiness to implement the project. In his remarks, Kimtai appreciated the long history of world Bank in funding livestock based programmes in Kenya saying that the funding has facilitated the growth of Livestock sector and gave assurance of SDL’s continued support for their funding. Among the resilience intervation by World Bank is the technical support to the Kenya Livestock Insuarance Programme (KLIP). The DRIVE brings together four countries I.e Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Djibouti to address drought shock. The objectives of the DRIVE project is to protect Pastoral economies against drought risk, increase financial inclusion of pastrolists and better connect them to markets.
