To support the activities of the rebranded 4K Club, Hon Peter Munya, CS Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives has flagged off over 10,000 vegetable seedlings to 10 schools at Kilimo House.
The seedlings have been donated by the Embassy of Israel as Kenya embarks on involving the youth in agriculture, through capacity building and enhancing the engagement of young people in agriculture.
Under CS Munya, the average age of a farmer has reduced: from 65 to 59 years.
In his remarks, CS Munya pointed out that the roll out of the 4K-Club programme, is part of the government’s efforts through the Ministry of Agriculture to harness the energy and talents of the young people, so that they are at the core of the country’s food and nutrition agenda.
CS was flanked by the Israeli Ambassador to Kenya H.E Obed Joseph, CAS Anne Nyaga, PS Harry Kimtai, Ministry’s officials and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Youth Affairs
