Agriculture CS has appreciated the fact that this year’s AGRF Summit has given an opportunity to reflect on the urgency of food systems transformation in the continent. Speaking during the closing ceremony, CS Munya has highlighted notable commitments and call to action from the Summit;
Involvement of the youth strongly emerged- CS Munya noted that there is need for Agriculture stakeholders to create jobs for the youth, change their attitudes towards agriculture and give them opportunities to come up with innovative solutions through technology.
The need to address trade barriers, both tariff and non- tariff to facilitate continental trade of products and make food accessible and affordable by every citizen was realised. CS Munya said that this can be achieved through investment in physical infrastructure such as rails and roads as well as ICT infrastructure. He congratulated the AGRF secretariat and her partners for organising the 5 day summit that brought together heads of states, African leaders and other agriculture stakeholders.
The summit marked a defining moment for transforming the continent’s food systems.
