This morning, H.E Oded Joseph, the ambassador of Israel to Kenya paid CAS Anne Nyaga CBS, a courtesy call at Kilimo House.
In their discussions, it was evident that there is a need for agricultural transformation by embracing modern agricultural methods and technologies by the the youths. They also talked of assistance in the provision of inputs as the GoK revitalizes 4K Clubs.
CAS Nyaga expressed the desire for the government involvement in ensuring that the Alumni and kenyan youth trained in israel find meaningful ways of utilizing their skills by GoK mentoring on the opportunities currently available in the existing youth programmes.
To achieve this, Agri-business is to be used as a platform for job creation and poverty eradication especially for the young people in Kenya. The desire and willingness to have more local capacity building and training of farmers through establishment of Agri-Parks (centres of excellence) was also highlighted. This will provide necessary opportunities for research and development, quality yields, quality seedlings, and improved farming methods.
They finalised on focus to encourage more Stakeholder involvement to make agriculture more fulfilling i.e ministry of agriculture, county governments, financing institutions, private companies, cooperatives, etc.
