CS Mithika Linturi Joins Samburu Residents in Planting 10,000 Trees on National Tree Growing Day

Today, in the spirit of collective government responsibility, CS Mithika Linturi joined residents of Tamiyoi in Samburu County for the national tree growing day where 10,000 trees were planted.

The national tree growing day is part of President William Ruto Government’s agenda to grow 15 billion trees by 2032 so as to increase the forest cover from the current 12% to 30% and also save the country from the devastating effects of climate change.

The Kenya Kwanza Government’s pledge to achieve a cleaner and safer environment is going to be actualized through the intentional placement of environmental conservation and landscape restoration to rehabilitate our ecosystem in line with the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

In addressing the vulnerability of Samburu County to risks associated with climate change, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has already partnered with the County Government of Samburu in the implementation of various agricultural productivity projects and programmes valued at over Ksh 1.9 Billion.

He also conveyed the President’s call to both National and County Governments, the communities, the private sector, philanthropies, non-governmental organizations, educational and religious institutions to mobilize the people of Kenya at large to participate in this noble endeavor and fulfill the theme of this tree-growing exercise which is “15 Billion Trees Wajibu wa Kila Mkenya.”

He was joined by Samburu Governor Jonathan Lati Leleliit, County Commissioner Henry Wafula, Senator Ltumbesi Lelegwe, area Mps and other government officials.
