In a bid to strengthen food security and bolster agricultural progress, the National and County Governments are holding a consultative meeting in Mombasa, focused on enhancing intergovernmental collaboration in the agricultural sector.
Leading the session, Dr. Andrew Karanja, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, highlighted the pivotal role of County Governments in driving local food and nutrition initiatives.
The CS underscored the National Government’s commitment to timely delivery of subsidized inputs, including fertilizers, and encouraged countries to support this by identifying and recruiting reliable agro-dealers.
Extension services are also essential for agricultural growth, and counties are encouraged to adopt innovative methods, such as the agri-preneur model, to leverage youth and technology in providing advisory support for farmers.
