Today CS Mithika Linturi witnessed the signing of 2023/24 Financial Year performance contracts by CEO’s and Chairpersons of State Corporations under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in a ceremony held at the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) headquarters in Nairobi.
Over thirty CEO’s and Board Chairpersons of State Corporations and Statutory Boards together with officials who lead semi-autonomous government agencies committed to meet the performance targets in order to improve agriculture and farmer earnings as set by President William Ruto’s government under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the Agricultural Sector Transformation and Growth Strategy
(ASTGS).
The government has put a lot of attention in supporting farmers and other agriculture stakeholders since the sector is key to our economy as it contributes 25% directly to the GDP and another 27% indirectly through support to other sectors like manufacturing.
He was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Dr. Paul Ronoh, State Department for Crop Development and Jonathan Mueke, State Department for Livestock Development.
